Wendy's Post Bag (D)

Q If I use my tarot or oracle cards, am I more likely to have spiritual dreams? Roberta, Brighton.

Wendy's reply: Yes, these cards will trigger your nightly dreams. When you pay attention to the card images, your unconscious mind becomes activated and it produces spontaneous dream stories while you sleep. If you want to increase the likelihood of dreaming, choose cards that are particularly relevant to what you’d like to generate, such as, for psychic ability, work with the High Priestess card, for advancement at work, The Chariot card, or to increase your energy levels, the Sun card. Place the card in a prominent place and spend a few minutes each day looking at it and thinking about its image. Choose a beautiful and meaningful deck, such as the Isis Oracle or any of the goddess decks, the Oracle of Visions or the Enchanted Tarot, which are my personal favourites.

Q: I am going on holiday to Malta and I am told it is the land of the goddess. Can you tell me more please?

Wendy replies: On the islands of Malta and Gozo, there are more than 50 old stone temples, standing stones and underground sanctuaries which date back 4,000 years, so older than Egyptian temples. They are oriented for seasonal alignments, and were once plastered and painted with terracotta coloured mud, with spirals, fish, snakes and farm animals. They are thought to have been devoted to the goddess because some of the most ancient images of females are found here. These female figurines were very plump and over-weight and wore pleated skirts and are likely to have been fertility goddesses or Mother goddesses. Make sure you visit the temples, on the solstices or equinoxes if you can. Look out for the Sleeping Lady and the Maltese Venus, as these are venerated across the world and will make a wonderful gift or memento.

Q: I have heard that Venus is the goddess of love. Can I bring her into my life?

Wendy replies: Venus is the Roman Goddess of Love, Beauty, desire, sexuality, prosperity and fertility. However, be a little careful as it is important to get a good perspective by reading her mythology stories and finding out for yourself if you think she is the epitome of love! She was very jealous sometimes, and could be quite cruel. She was considered to be a narcissist as she always wanted to be more beautiful than everyone else, and manipulated everyone in order to get what she wanted. As you look up into the night sky or the early morning sky, the brightest star you see is likely to be Venus. She is very beautiful, but beware of enticement! Her wisdom is to never take something at face value.

Q: I am needing some goddess assistance for a short work contract. What do you suggest?

Wendy replies: Athena is the ancient Greek Goddess of Wisdom. The city of Athens was named after her and her temple is positioned on the highest hill in the area. She is ideal to call upon in work situations as she is a mature woman of clarity and perspective. In earliest times, she was a warrior goddess, but found that peace and negotiation leads to greater productivity than conflict, and she became the Goddess of Civilisation. Her symbol is the owl, and it makes a suitable good luck charm. The owl can turn its head so it can see what is happening behind and all around. It acts silently and swiftly, without a big show, but is quietly strong and impressive, as is Athena. By imagining her in her temple, you will bring her energy of wisdom to you.

Q I think I’m clairvoyant, but I don’t understand what the visions from Spirit mean. How do I understand them?

Wendy's reply: If this happens, ask the Spirit to show you a book with a title that relates to their message, or they could write down their message on a piece of paper and show it to you or they can mime what they want you to know. However, it is rare for a medium to have exclusively one ability. Usually, one ability is especially developed, but others are also possible, such as the ability to hear. I suggest, you ask the Spirit to give you a message in words. Watch the Spirit’s mouth, and see if it is moving. Then listen to see if you can hear their voice. It might be slow at first as you develop this ability. You can also ask the Spirit to deliver telepathically a message to you, so you don’t hear the words, but gain a sense of what the message is about.

Q Why do certain spirit guides – for example a Native American Indian – choose to guide you?

Wendy's reply: Guiding is a collaboration between the medium and the Spirit who work closely together. Our Spirit Guide influences our choices, and they are sensitive to our individuality and disposition. Those who have a Native American Spirit Guide will be interested in the sort of things that their Guide did in life, such as handicrafts. The Guide will bestow a love of nature and care for it. Because the Native Americans lived in tribes, the medium will feel the pull to live in a community of people with similar interests. A Chinese Spirit Guide will influence the person through calligraphy or to use the I Ching which is a book of ancient Chinese philosophy, for instance. Whatever skills and interests we have might well be on account of a Spirit Guide who is working with us, to inform, educate and direct us towards a healthier and more spiritually productive life.

Q  Why are the Akashic Records so important?

Wendy's Reply: This is an Indian philosophy which has been brought to the West. The word Akasha is Sanskrit and means ‘space’, and these are vast libraries of information which are kept in the Otherworld. Everything that has ever happened is written down and included are biographies of every thought, word and deed of all the people who have ever lived. They are important, firstly, because everything we think, feel and do is being noted, and this is so for everyone, of the past, the present and who are yet to be born. It is possible for some people to access these records in order to gain wisdom but it is very difficult to do so and might not be appropriate, as the records are intended for assessment after we have lived our life. Some people who have had a near death experience, automatically have a ‘life review’ – a snap shot vision into these records which often show what is really important in life. Their life will often change as a result of this experience. 172

Q  I struggle to sleep after I’ve connected to Spirit – why is this?

Wendy's Reply: A Contact with the Otherworld is very stimulating and is a little like watching an exciting film. Our concentration is intense and our heart can pound and we feel very involved as we exchange energy with the Spirit world which is very different from this, our physical world. We need to open ourselves to this energy and then close down after it. If you haven’t closed down, Spirit will be trying to get messages through to you, and this will prevent relaxation and a sound sleep. This problem could have several causes and therefore several remedies. It could be too long a duration in which case I suggest you arrange with Spirit to be available for only 15 minutes at a time. Keep strictly to the times you have set. This means that Spirit deliver swift and concise messages and then the communication is cut. It could be you are a person who is always open to Spirit, in which case, you should not do any mediumship work at all because this opens you more. Use Walnut Bach Flower Remedy as that helps to reduce contact with Spirit. Speaking to people, such as friends on the phone is also helpful, as is going out for a walk, taking a bath, eating, drinking, taking exercise and anything that puts you in touch with your physical body. Try to create a routine, where you speak to Spirit at the same time each day for a short period. Light a candle, sit in the same chair, and use a gentle alarm to end the set time. Write down what the experience has been for you. Complete closure is the answer!

Q Can you explain the art of channelling to me please? Letty Carruthers

Wendy's reply: Whereas most mediums deliver messages from loved ones in Spirit to give proof of survival after earthly death, channellers usually deliver messages from named spirits, such as Ascended Masters, who want to deliver messages to our world. These messages often contain cautions, predictions and life-style advice and can be related to war, pollution, corruption, greed, etc., and therefore offer philosophy and spiritual guidance. Most channellers are what is called ‘trance’ mediums where the medium looks as though they are in a semi-sleep state. The medium might remember some of the message depending on the level of their trance. Many channellers will write the message they receive, and sometimes the Spirit takes over the medium and writes the message using the medium’s hand. Sometimes, Spirit will take over the medium to deliver the message through the medium’s voice. Esther Hicks, Jane Roberts, and many Brazilian mediums are all channellers.

Q:  Last night I was troubled by a dream. I tried to speak but the sentences came out as gibberish. The harder and louder I tried, the more garbled my words became.

Wendy's reply: This dream relates to the need to communicate but a difficulty in explaining yourself when things really matter to you - especially in relationships. If you could speak in your dream, what would you be saying and to whom? I would suggest four action steps. The first is to write down what you would like to say to each important person in your life. If you could only say one sentence to each, what would it be? The second is to have courage and say these words kindly and calmly. The third is to write down what you think each important person would like to say to you in return, what are their needs, wants and expectations of you? Next write down what you would like them to say to you to bring closure to the conversation. These are the people you need to focus on: family members, friends, work colleagues and social acquaintances.

Q I had a strange dream where I am dancing in circles with a beautiful little girl with a crown of gold on her head.  Any feedback would be appreciated.
Wendy's reply: There is an Otherworldly aspect to your dream which has a quality of freedom, sensitivity and gentleness, and is reminiscent of a delicate young girl before self-consciousness or responsibilities set in which could be your inner child. The crown of gold is a wish to return to a time of innocence and purity of thought - a time of true caring and openness to love and be loved. It must be your goal to create beauty, relaxation and joy as a balance for life’s challenges and responsibilities as an adult (which can involve putting others before our own needs and desires). Recognize the preciousness of innocence that you can still enjoy without losing sight of daily tasks.

I touched the tap on my bathroom sink, there was a flash like silver electricity and I was thrown into the corridor. I walked back to the bathroom mirror my right eye was like a silver ball, completely blank, then appearing from the top of my eyeball was a map of the world. Other things were appearing but I could not decipher them.

I have called this dream “The Awakening”. You are a shining lightworker and your insightful path is to help the planet. The dream implies you see a problem to solve, not just for yourself but for others in the world. Something happened recently that caused you to have a shock. Shocks are not good for us because they can throw us off balance and confuse us. Aim for a path of clear enlightenment, with wisdom, peace, truth and caring - despite this path not being gained quickly or easily. Keep company with those who are on a valid spiritual mission. Use the affirmation: My path is being revealed. It will be global!
